Welcome to Gina's for the Community CIC

Ginas For The Community is a grassroots Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to improving life chances and wellbeing across our communities. We support young people, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those facing financial hardship through youth development, employability, food insecurity support, health education, community outreach, and social connection.

Our mission is to empower people with practical skills, opportunities, and compassionate support while reducing food waste and strengthening communities. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances.

Our Programmes & Services:

  • Project LEEP: Our flagship youth employability programme equips young people with the confidence, skills and qualifications needed for employment and further opportunities. Participants receive CV and interview preparation, job readiness support, employer engagement, accredited training including Level 2 Food Hygiene, volunteering opportunities, mentoring, and practical work experience through our community outreach projects. Participants have the opportunity to plan, direct and take part in a social awareness video. Working together, they choose an issue that matters to them, such as knife crime, mental health, homelessness, or community safety, and develop the concept, script, filming and promotion.
  • Sexual Health Awareness Programme: A four-week educational programme supporting young people to make informed choices about their sexual health and wellbeing. Sessions cover healthy relationships, consent, contraception, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), testing, online safety, confidence, self-esteem, and where to access local support services.
  • Electrical Safety Awareness Programme: A practical community safety programme helping young people understand electrical safety in the home and everyday environments. Participants learn how to identify hazards, prevent electrical fires, reduce risks, improve energy awareness, and keep themselves, their families and their communities safe.
  • Community Connection Project: A weekly programme designed to reduce loneliness and social isolation by bringing people together through shared meals, wellbeing activities, community discussions, guest speakers, creative sessions and peer support. The project creates meaningful connections and promotes positive mental wellbeing for adults who may otherwise feel isolated.
  • Girls in Sport ProgrammeProviding free football and other sporting opportunities for girls and young women from disadvantaged communities. The programme promotes confidence, teamwork, physical wellbeing, resilience and positive social connections in a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Hot Meals & Community Outreach: Our volunteers prepare and distribute freshly cooked meals, food parcels, care packs and essential items including hygiene products, warm clothing and sleeping bags to individuals experiencing homelessness or financial hardship. Alongside food support, we provide signposting to local services and ongoing community engagement.
  • Surplus Food Collection & Redistribution:Every day we collect high-quality surplus food from local retailers, cafés and restaurants, preventing perfectly good food from going to waste. This food is redistributed to individuals and families facing hardship, helping tackle both food insecurity and environmental waste.
  • Community Awareness & Youth Leadership: We empower young people to become active members of their communities through volunteering, peer mentoring, social action projects and awareness campaigns. Participants develop leadership skills while addressing important issues including health, wellbeing, employment, homelessness and community safety.

Through these programmes, we aim to empower young people, strengthen families, and improve wellbeing across the community.

Our Vision

Through all of our programmes, we aim to create healthier, stronger and more connected communities by reducing food insecurity, improving employment opportunities, promoting health and wellbeing, tackling social isolation, and giving young people the confidence, skills and support they need to reach their full potential.
